Long Stroke Gripper
With their impressively large stroke and slim design, they are ideal for securely gripping even bulky workpieces. Our grippers guarantee efficient and reliable handling in your assembly system or assembly cell. Thanks to a variety of designs, you can adapt the grippers individually to your specific requirements.Sizes
- The size number indicates how wide the basic housing is, with the exception of the two smallest sizes.
- 60 = 59 mm housing width
- 70 = 76 mm housing width
- 80 = 80 mm housing width
- 100 = 100 mm housing width
- 140 = 140 mm housing width
- 180 = 180 mm housing width
- 220 = 220 mm housing width
- 280 = 280 mm housing width
Design
- The so-called “Long stroke gripper” ASGPKG is a two-jaw parallel gripper with comparatively low gripping forces, but with a large gripper jaw stroke.
Gripper jaw stroke
- The gripper’s type designation indicates the total gripper jaw stroke.
- For example, with the ASGPKG-70-24: The total gripper jaw stroke is 24 mm, i.e. 12 mm stroke per jaw.
Gripper fingers
- Gripper fingers are not usually offered by Asutec, but are manufactured by the customer and adapted to the specific geometry of the workpiece to be gripped.
- The gripper fingers are screwed onto the outer surface of the gripper jaws.
- The gripper fingers can be centered using the centering bushings supplied or based on the precisely tolerated width of the jaw.
Screw-on surfaces
- The gripper can be mounted from two sides:
Mounting on the top of the gripper.
- Blind hole threads and centering bushings are available for this.
Mounting on the back of the gripper.
- Threaded holes and centering bushings are available for this.
- It is also possible to insert screws through the gripper housing in order to use the internal thread on the counter plate.
Air connections
- The main air connections of the “Long stroke gripper” are located on the front of the gripper. When delivered, these connections are closed with blind plugs.
- If you want to use these main air connections, you must unscrew the blind plugs and replace them with suitable air connections. To reduce the speed of the gripper jaw movement, air connections with an exhaust air throttle can be used.
- Independently of this, both end positions of the gripper jaw positions have elastic, integrated end position damping.
- The threaded holes of the main air connections have the following sizes:
- ASGPKG-60 to ASGPKG-100: internal thread M3
- ASGPKG-140 to ASGPKG-220: internal thread M5
- ASGPKG-280: internal thread G1/8
- On the top of the small parts grippers there are air connection holes that are hermetically sealed with threaded pins. These connections can be used to supply compressed air through a mounting plate screwed on. This is referred to as a “direct air connection“. To do this, the threaded pins must be unscrewed. The supplied O-rings create an airtight connection between the top of the gripper housing and the mounting plate.
- When using the tubeless direct air connections, the two main air connections must remain closed with the corresponding blind plugs.
- The threaded holes of the direct air connections have the following sizes:
- ASGPKG-60 to ASGPKG-220: internal thread M3
- ASGPKG-280: internal thread M5
Cover
- A U-shaped cover plate is installed between the gripper jaws.
- This cover plate serves both as a clamp protection and as a cover to protect against dirt.
Position detection
- From size ASGPKG-60 to ASGPKG-140, the grippers are delivered with a sensor holder for C-slot magnetic field sensors.
- Two magnetic field sensors available as accessories can be installed here, and thus the open and/or closed position of the gripper jaws can be queried. Please note that the magnetic field sensors used here have the special feature that they are specified for direct magnetic pole alignment to the sensor. Asutec offers these sensors with clamping element as accessories in two versions.
- From size ASGKG-180 to ASGPKG-280, the grippers are delivered with a sensor holder for inductive position detection.
- Two inductive sensors available as accessories can be installed here in the clamping holders provided, and thus the open and/or closed position of the gripper jaws can be queried.
- It is possible to retrofit the inductive position sensing on the smaller sizes instead of the magnetic field sensor sensing.
- It is also possible to retrofit the inductive position sensor instead of the magnetic field sensor sensor for the smaller sizes.
Gripper jaw synchronisation
- When the gripper is “opened”, the gripper jaws move away from each other. When the gripper jaws are “closed”, the gripper jaws move towards each other.
- These two opposing movements of the gripper jaws are synchronized inside the gripper by a rack and pinion drive with a gear.
Maintenance
- No maintenance is required.
Scope of supply
- The grippers are supplied without any special accessories.
- In addition to the gripper, the following elements are included in the scope of delivery:
- Centering sleeves for mounting the gripper on a mounting plate
– Centering sleeves for mounting gripper fingers
– Blind plugs for the main air connections (installed)
– O-rings for sealing with a “hoseless direct air connection”
– Sensor holder for position sensing with C-slot magnetic field sensors for sizes ASGPKG-60 to ASGPKG-140 - Sensor actuator and clamp holder for position sensing with inductive sensors for sizes ASGKG-180 to ASGPKG-280
